ABOUT LAUREN

Lauren Klosterboer, MA, LPC, RPT™ is licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a Registered Play Therapist in the Houston/ Sugar Land area. Lauren received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University and graduated from a CACREP accredited program with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. She has experience working in the school setting, in child trauma agencies, and private practice. Lauren has experience treating children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, such as sexual and physical abuse, as well as helping supportive parents/caregivers navigate the difficulties that these traumas bring to parenting. 

Lauren believes that all clients have the inherent ability to overcome whatever challenges they face with the help of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide variety of presenting issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidality, physical abuse, sexual abuse, family relationship issues, and parenting concerns. Lauren uses a variety of theories and modalities including Child Centered Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) to create a treatment plan that fits each person and their specific needs and goals. She is passionate about empowering clients to make positive changes in their lives. 

Lauren is happily married and enjoys spending time outside and traveling. Her favorite country she has visited is Spain. Lauren loves taking her dog on long walks, attending Taylor Swift concerts, and watching Aggie football games when the weather is nice.
